Stories from the Legacy

Why riders are claiming their spot.

Old-school riders, current riders, families — in their own words.

I rode the East Coast pro circuit from '88 to '95 and I'd been carrying that whole timeline around in my head. FreestylersLegacy let me put it down somewhere that won't disappear.

Flatland is its own world. Having a place where flatlanders can geek out about who rode where, what frame they were on — that's everything I wanted in '93.

I never lived through the '90s, but my dad rode then. Reading his old crew's profiles and seeing his bike spec from '94 connected me to the lineage.

I've been hosting jams at our trails for 22 years. Now every rider tags the spot and the event — it's a living history of our backyard.

Rider Bio · Draft

Marco "Tally" started riding vert in San Diego in 1987, sponsored by GT Bicycles and Profile Racing. Won his regional 2-Hip King of Vert in '94, made the X Games trials in '97, and toured with the BMX Dream Team for eight years. Today he runs sessions at the Bicycle Stunt Ramp and mentors the next class of park riders.

FAQ

Questions riders actually ask.

How much does this cost? add
The Free tier is free, forever — claim your profile, build your bike spec, browse riders/spots/comps, follow other riders, and post up to 10 photos. Pro Rider ($9/month or $79/year) unlocks unlimited photos, video uploads, AI bio drafting, AI photo tagging, full tagging across spots/comps/sponsors/crews, and the Verified badge. Performer ($19/month or $179/year) adds Hire-a-Rider listing, custom blurb & rates, region targeting, direct bookings, and a booking calendar. See full pricing.
Do I need a password? add
No. Email + a 4-digit PIN. We email the PIN to you. Forgot it? One click, we email it again. No "12 characters with a special symbol and your mother's maiden name" nonsense.
I don't ride anymore. Can I still claim a profile? add
Yes — that's most of us. Pick the Old-School profile type. Mark your "stopped riding" year (or don't — nobody really stops). Document the era you rode in. The legacy badge is for you.
Can I claim a profile for a rider who passed? add
Yes. The Legacy / Memorial profile lets family or close friends curate a profile in someone's memory. Photos, crew tags, sponsor history, "in memory of" framing. Email [email protected] for help with verification.
I don't remember every contest I rode. add
Use the AI bio. Drop a few photos, your start year, and a couple of comps you remember. Claude drafts a bio you can edit. AI photo-tagging picks up locations, riders, and eras automatically — you fill in the gaps.
Can I add my old crew or stunt team? add
Yes. Anyone can add a team or crew. Set the founded/ended years, add a logo, and start tagging members. Once they sign up, they link back — the roster fills itself in over time.
Can sponsors and event organizers find me? add
If you list yourself for hire, yes. Toggle the Hire-a-Rider switch on your profile, set your rates, regions, and a short blurb. Brands, schools, parents, and event orgs can search by discipline and contact you directly. We don't take a cut.
What if I have hundreds of old photos? add
Drop them in. Bulk upload. Gemini auto-captions and AI-tags every shot. You can mark any photo private, public, or featured. Tagged riders get notified so they can confirm they're in it.
Will my profile data ever disappear? add
No. Your profile is the whole point. We commit to keeping it live. You can export your profile, photos, bike specs, and timeline as JSON anytime. If we ever shut down, we'll publish a final archive.
Who's behind FreestylersLegacy? add
Built by riders and the codiedog team. Dennis Langlais — pro-affiliated with major BMX brands since age 15 — is one of the founders. The site is for riders, not brands. Built by us.
