The Vintage BMX Archive

The museum of BMX freestyle gear,
built by the people who rode it.

1985 GT Performers. Skyway Tuff Wheels. Haro Master forks. Hutch decals from ‘88. Mongoose Californian frames. The pieces you saved when nobody else thought they were worth saving. This is where they live now.

Why this exists

Every shop closed. Every magazine folded. Most of it’s gone.

The decals you wore on your number plate. The pads that came with your first race kit. The frame your dad bought you in ‘87. The flatland pegs your local shop hand-stamped. Most of it’s in landfills now. What survived is in a few people’s garages.

BMX has the Schwinn collectors. The vintage Mongoose forums. The eBay diggers. But there’s no single place where it all lives, gets credited to the right people, and gets remembered properly. So we’re building one.

If you saved it, this is where it goes.

How it works

From your shelf to the archive in 5 minutes.

Members submit. The community engages. Admins curate. Your piece is preserved — with proper credit — forever.

1

Photograph it

Phone shots are fine. Show every angle. Decals, dings, the patina that tells the story.

2

Submit with story

Title, year, brand, what you remember about it. Drop the photos in. Hit submit.

3

We review

Admin team reviews within 24 hours. Authenticated, properly categorized, published to the archive.

4

The community engages

Other riders like, comment, share. They’ll know stuff you don’t. Your piece becomes a thread.

Common questions

Everything you might want to know.

Who can submit?

Contributing to the archive is a Pro Rider feature. Browsing is open to anyone with a Free profile. If you’re on the Free tier you can claim your profile and explore everything — upgrade to Pro when you’re ready to contribute.

What if I don’t know the year or brand?

Submit what you know. The community is great at IDing stuff — comments will fill in the blanks. Better to share with gaps than not share at all.

Can I edit or delete my submission later?

Yes. Head to My Vintage in the sidebar to edit or remove anything you’ve submitted. Admins can also help you fix mistakes.

Is it just bikes?

Bikes, parts, accessories, stickers, gear, clothing, and ephemera (magazines, flyers, photos of old shops). Anything BMX freestyle from the era.

Who owns the photos I submit?

You do. We host them and credit you. Pull them anytime by deleting your submission.

What happens if my piece gets featured?

Admins can feature standout submissions — gold star badge, top of category, surfaced on the homepage. It’s how we recognize the rare and the historically significant.

Got something in the basement?
The archive wants it.

Pro Riders can contribute. Reviewed within 24 hours. Credited to you, surfaced to a community that’ll actually appreciate what you saved.
